Participation in the Housing Council of Tarragona

Dr. Héctor Simón took part on Wednesday, 8 July, in the plenary session of the Housing Council of Tarragona on behalf of the UNESCO Housing Chair. This Council is a consultative body with the capacity to prepare constructive proposals so as to guide the city’s housing policy. Its constitution was proposed in the Tarragona Housing Local Plan 2021-2026, drawn up by the UNESCO Housing Chair.

Seminar “Ten Years of Shared and Temporary Catalan Property”

The UNESCO Chair in Housing is organizing the Seminar “Ten Years of Shared and Temporary Catalan Property”. In this seminar, several experts, academics and professionals will analyze two Catalan civil institutions that should be key to promoting access to housing: shared property and temporary property. And they will do so ten years after their inclusion in the Civil Code of Catalonia by Law 19/2015. Access is free but capacity is limited to registered people, both in person and virtually. RED TERRITORIO

The RED TERRITORIO project is a pioneering initiative launched by the Registry Foundation of the Spanish Association of Property Registrars, in collaboration with the University of Valladolid and the UNESCO Chair in Housing at Rovira i Virgili University. Its aim is to analyze and disseminate the main transformations taking place in urban and rural areas of Spain from a legal, social, and economic perspective.

Its primary purpose is to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and society, creating a space for dialogue where researchers, registrars, legal professionals, economists, urban planners, and social actors involved in territorial planning, development, and cohesion processes can come together.

RED TERRITORIO combines scientific rigor with a popular and social approach, using an audiovisual series in interview format as its communication tool. This series is designed as a means of publicly disseminating academic and professional thought on contemporary territorial challenges.
